The k-nuts are produced following aerospace standards which makes them extremly lightweight. The k-nuts are cadmium-plated which enlarges their corrosion resistance. Afterwards a MoS2 low friction coating is applied, the coating performs as a dry film lubricant. This is also called a molybdenium disulphide coating.
The kaylock nuts are available with metric threads as well as with UNF thread patterns.
Common metric sizes are M5, M6, M8, M10 and M12. The sizes M3, M4, M7 and M14 are also considered as standard, as well as 1/4"-28 UNF, 5/16"-24 UNF and 3/8"-24 UNF.
